What does a Sea Cucumber do when it is threatened?”?

I was asked to answer this question for a job...what is the meaning of this question or answer?|||Interestingly the sea cucumber is closely related to sea urchins and starfish, although its hard to see the resemblance at a glance. Their hard calcareous skeleton, reduced to microscopic spicules, is buried under the skin.

Some sea cucumbers can expel sticky white threads to entangle or distract would-be predators, and some even expel their internal organs when disturbed. Amazingly the organs can be regenerated and life for the animal will go on normally. Worldwide, their body sizes vary from two centimetres to 200 cm, and thicknesses between one and 20 cm. They are found in all oceans, mostly in warm shallow waters, but sometimes at great depths. However they are most common in the Indian Ocean and the South West Pacific.

The Palauan people use the sea cucumber to protect their feet when walking in the reef. They squeeze the sea cucumber until it squirts out sticky threads, which they put on their feet. Even though this practice may sound harsh, the sea cucumber returns to the reef unharmed. These threads are normally used by the sea cucumber to trap its enemies.|||Apparently it does this:

The Sea Cucumber has a variety of responses in its arsenal.

The first is a direct result of its ability to change from liquid to solid as a result of catch collagen compound in its skin. The sea cucumber may liquefy itself into a hiding place and re-harden to avoid extraction.

If the sea cucumber is especially threatened, it can expel the contacts of its guts which may or may not be accompanied by additional chemical compounds that could be harmful to other sea life.

If the sea cucumber really thinks it is the end, it can expel a portion of the tubes that form the base of its respiratory "gills" by taking in enough water to rupture its hind gut. This reaction is accompanied by a release of predator-unfriendly saponin chemicals.|||What kind of job could that possibly have been? Why would you need to know that? Sounds like sexual harassment in the interview.|||shoots out a white liquid. It shows it on Jackass
